MONTANOV™ 68 MB is an O/W emulsifier ideal for natural and “green” formulations, enabling the creation of fluid to thick creams with a rich texture. With 100% Natural Origin Content and both COSMOS and Natrue approvals, it is also covered by a Mass Balance RSPO certificate, ensuring its eco-conscious credentials.

This non-ionic, liquid crystal emulsifier is based on the HLB system, forming a lamellar or bilayered structure that mimics the lipid bilayers in our stratum corneum. This unique property can enhance the penetration of actives or lipids from lotions into the skin, while also reducing transepidermal water loss by retaining more water in contact with the skin for extended periods.

When formulating with MONTANOV™ 68, include it in the heated oil phase of your product. It performs best with a 25% oil phase, effectively emulsifying natural oils as well as silicones and esters. The inclusion of a fatty alcohol like Cetyl or Cetearyl Alcohol can boost liquid crystal formation in the lotion. It is compatible with cationic ingredients such as Honeyquat and Cetrimonium Chloride and remains effective across a pH range of 3 to 10, making it suitable for diverse formulations, from light facial moisturisers with AHAs to bleaching or depilatory creams.

Lotions formulated with MONTANOV™ 68 are often lighter and more moisturising compared to those made with non-liquid crystal emulsifiers like Polawax™ or Emulsifying Wax NF.
